What is a menstrual cup?
Menstrual cups are a reusable alternative to tampons. JuJu menstrual cups are made from medical grade silicone that can last up to 10 years! Tampons in comparison are made from a soft disposable material that must be thrown out after use. You can buy a menstrual cup here!)
What are the health benefits of choosing menstrual cups over tampons?
No harmful substances: Did you know that some tampons and pads may contain harmful substances such as chlorine (used for bleaching) or fragrances? That’s crazy! Of course while mainstream tampons can contain nasties, the tampons we sell at Nourished Life are Certified Organic and totally free from perfumes, chemicals, pesticides, bleach and genetically modified cotton. But Menstrual cups do not contain anything at all, just medical grade silicone that is completely safe to use. That is it.
Longer use: Tampons should only be used for a few hours at a time, whereas a JuJu cup can actually be worn for up to 12 hours! This means you don’t have to spend all day worrying about changing your tampon.
No absorption agents: Tampons often contain absorption agents which cause dryness, whereas menstrual cups have no risk of this occurring. If you have a heavier flow or retroverted uterus, menstrual cups may be an ideal option for you.
What are the lifestyle benefits of choosing menstrual cups over tampons?
Active Lifestyle friendly: If you live an active lifestyle and like to keep fit, the JuJu menstrual cup may also be an ideal option (many say a lifesaver) because they don’t contain any strings or wings to worry about and can be worn during exercise.
Cost effective: (Now this is my favourite) With the cost of feminine hygiene products being so high, choosing a menstrual cup can save you a lot of money! We are talking thousands of dollars over a lifetime.
Easy to travel with: JuJu cups are also travel effective, and since you'll only ever need one, when your period comes around you won’t need to rush to the shops!
How to use a menstrual cup
Always read the label. Use only as directed. But as a general guide, the menstrual cup is folded and inserted into the vagina, where it then opens to create a seal and securely collect menstrual fluid. When full, it is removed, emptied, rinsed and re-inserted. It is cleaned, stored then reused during your next period.
What are the environmental benefits of using menstrual cups?
If all women used a menstrual cup, we would save an estimated 10,000 feminine hygiene products over our lifespan from entering waterways and landfill. That’s incredible! By making such a simple commitment you could be making a HUGE difference to the environment. Using multiple tampons per day now just seems like such a waste.
Why choose JuJu?
