SunButter sunscreen was first produced in 2016 by marine biologists Sacha Guggenheimer and Tom Hiney, who had a need for a high-quality and effective natural sunscreen that caused no harm to the Australian marine life and coral reefs amongst which they worked. They started by making the original SunButter sunblock for themselves and their team by hand but felt they needed to expand to share their mantra of Protecting People & Oceans.
Following their successful Kickstarter campaign, SunButter Oceans was launched in Australia in 2019 and its SPF50 sunscreen quickly became a sought-after product, both in stores around Australia and online.
