When you’re rushing out the door, which makeup products do you reach for? For me I find the easiest way to look put together when I’m in a hurry, is by applying a BB or CC cream. However, there’s often a lot of confusion surrounding BB and CC creams. What are they? What do they stand for? Which is better for my skin? Well that’s what this blog post today is here for! To clear up any confusion, explain the difference and introduce you to some really great natural BB and CC creams that we have available here on Nourished Life.

What is the difference between BB & CC cream?

Well firstly, BB stands for either beauty balm or blemish balm. BB creams combine the best of skincare and makeup to offer a light or medium tint to the skin and often include added SPF too! In comparison to CC creams, BB creams have a lighter coverage (but more than a tinted moisturiser) so perfect for those who like a subtle glow to the skin. BB creams have so many great benefits! They even out your skin tone, provide anti-ageing benefits, moisturise and reflect the light to give a dewy complexion. They are ultra moisturising too so great for those of us with dry skin!

CC on the other hand stands for colour correcting. If you have problems with pigmentation or redness of the skin then a CC cream is the best option for you! CC creams are lightweight, fast-absorbing and even out your skin tone by blurring imperfections. The technology in CC creams relies on light diffusing particles to help counteract redness or sallowness. CC creams tend to also have a heavier consistency in comparison to a BB cream, so provide more coverage to conceal any red or dark spots.

Which BB creams do I recommend?

We have a great range of BB creams available here on Nourished Life, some do contain some levels of SPF too but when going outside or in the sun always apply a sunscreen and remember that sunscreen is only one part of sun protection, also wear protective clothing, hats and sunglasses when exposed to the sun.

If you would prefer a BB cream without SPF then I suggest the Benecos BB Cream. This BB cream may help to smooth over imperfections and even out your skin tone, similar to a foundation, but a little lighter,as it also works as a moisturiser, whilst at the same time mattifying and smoothing the complexion so it feels soft and looks healthier even after you have cleansed your face.

If you want a BB cream with some added natural sun protection you can try the La Mav BB Cream. This BB cream provides a medium or light, matte coverage that is suitable for all skin types. It’s great for covering blemishes, mild age spots/sun damage and provides a flawless finish! It is also loaded with a heap of anti-ageing ingredients like aloe vera and jojoba oil that can help hydrate the skin and smooth out any lines or wrinkles.

One of my new favourite BB creams that I’m so excited to introduce to you, is the Andalou Brightening Beauty Balm Sheer with Tint SPF30! Just in time for summer! It’s got added and ingredients such as resveratrol and rosehip oil to target wrinkles moisturise and regenerate the skin.

Which CC creams do I recommend?

The Lavera 8 in 1 CC Cream has a very low SPF 6, so make sure you add your regulat SPF 30 sunscreen first, allow to dry then add this BB cream is you’re going to spend time outside. This CC cream is great because it contains the ingredient Camu Camu, which is very rich in vitamin C. This is an age-defying CC cream that helps to brighten the skin, cover imperfections, smoothe fine lines and plumps the skin! That’s a lot of benefits!

Lucky last is the Andalou 1000 Roses CC Cream with SPF30. Using fruit stem cell science to boost and renew, this CC cream promotes skin vitality and provides a youthful glow to the skin.
