My morning skincare routine
1. Cleanse
I have dry skin so when washing my face in the morning, I like a nice milky cleanser and currently use the Dr Hauschka Soothing Cleansing Milk $61, I know it's on the pricey side but it's a huge bottle and it lasts a long time. It is a soft, creamy formula ideal for dry and sensitive skin. I apply with the Life Basics Konjac Sponge - Bamboo Charcoal $16.95 which I think is the best invention. I find I can use much less cleanser which is great for saving money on the cleanser and it really gives a deep clean and I find this combination really stops blackheads.
2. (weekly only) Exfoliate
As my toner naturally exfoliates the skin, I only follow this step once weekly. To give my skin a deeper exfoliation, I reach for the Acure Brightening Facial Scrub $24.95. Made with Sea Kelp and Chlorella, this exfoliant stimulates new cell growth and helps to brighten the skin.
3. Tone
After cleansing, I tone with The Beauty Chef Probiotic Skin Refiner $69.95. Ideal for all skin types, this natural AHA gently exfoliates, plumps and moisturises. It also works to boost collagen levels, smooth fine lines and improve UV damage. You can learn all about how it works here - it's just incredible.
4. Sunscreen
Experts advise to apply sunscreen before your moisturiser, I apply after using the skin refiner. I generally dislike the feel of sunscreen on my face but this Little Urchin Natural Sunscreen SPF 30 $24.95 doesn't leave any white residue and it has a great satin finish that soaks in nice and fast.
5. Serum
When shopping for a serum, itβs important to consider your skin type and main concerns. Mine is pigmentation and wrinkles. I am over 40 and use these serums as anti-aging potions. I firstly love the Mukti Age Defiance Day Serum $109.95, again it's on the pricey side, but it contains potent anti-ageing actives in an organic base and it has great clinical trial results (plus I can tell you first hand that that my wrinkles look smoother than before I started). I also love the 100% Pure Vitamin C Serum $49.95, and I find myself using this often on my pigmentation which is looking much lighter than it was after my last pregnancy 5 years ago.
6. Day Cream
If you have oily or combination skin, you may like to skip this step and go straight into applying a tinted moisturiser or BB cream. For a luminous complexion, I love the 100% Pure BB Cream $49.95. This product offers medium to full coverage with a smooth finish on the skin and comes in three different shades. My skin is dry, so I just use a basic organic moisturiser underneath.
7. Powder
To finish off, I set my face with the 100% Pure Bamboo Blur Setting Powder $39.95. This translucent powder is formulated with Bamboo Silica and it minimises my pores and fine lines, and helps with any oiliness. It can make your skin look like a real life Instagram filter!
My night time skincare routine
1. (every other night) Gradual Tan
I just love Eco Tan Face Water! I apply it after cleansing at night, and wake up with a flawless natural glow. It is a gradual tan product, so it is really subtle. Only the trained eyes of the ladies in the Nourished Life office know I have it on!
2. Serum
After cleansing and toning with the same products as listed above, I apply The Beauty Chef Dream Repair Cellular Serum, $69.95. Filled with powerful antioxidants, this serum repairs and rejuvenates my skin while I sleep.
3. Night Cream
As your skin is significantly more rejuvenative at night, applying an effective treatment is key. The 100% Pure Multi-Vitamin Antioxidants Ultra Riche PM Treatment $69.95, provides my skin with a boost of nutrients all while I'm fast sleep. It leaves my skin brighter and more supple by morning.
4. Neck Cream
When it comes to moisturising, you canβt forget about your neck! The 100% Pure Retinol Restorative Neck Cream $59.95, is formulated with hydrolysed Red Quinoa, Olive Squalene and Hyaluronic Acid which all help me fight the signs of ageing. Retinol is also included and has helped me reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on my neck!
