Although there are plenty of benefits of working remotely, including the reduced commute time and ability to wear comfortable clothes all day, spending most of your time at home can start to feel a little claustrophobic after a while. To explain how to stay positive and prevent cabin fever during these uncertain times, we’ve teamed up with the skincare experts at British brand Pai. From upgrading your daily skincare routine to why now’s the perfect time to start a skincare diary, discover their top 3 self care skincare tips now.

1. Use your old commute time wisely

We love a lie-in as much as the next person, but there’s something to be said about the power of getting up early and starting your day off right. Getting up at your regular time and springing straight into your day is a fantastic way to keep up daily routines during this period of uncertainty, and can put you in the positive mindset you need to tackle the day.

As a bonus, starting your day at the same time as usual but cutting out your commute gives you more time to enjoy the little things in life, like your daily skincare routine. We’re loving having an extra 10-15 minutes before work to apply a face mask, exfoliate, or double cleanse - and our skin is thanking us for it!

2. Look after your body

Keeping fit and healthy can help boost your immune system naturally as the pandemic continues, and can also do wonders for your mental health. Particularly as we enter cold and flu season, give your body the nourishment it needs by eating a balanced diet filled with leafy greens and other fresh produce and aiming to drink at least 2L of water everyday.

While it can be tempting to head straight to the couch after you clock off work, opt for some physical activity instead. Whether you love yoga, HIIT, weight training, or pilates, there are plenty of incredible online exercise classes to try. You can even try tuning into classes remotely with your friends, co-workers, and family to help strengthen relationships and make new memories together even while physically apart.

3. Take control of your skin

Spending most of your time at home and makeup-free is the perfect time to learn what really makes your skin tick. Without after-work drinks, wedding season, or other unexpected plans to derail your efforts, now is the perfect time to start a skincare diary.

Start by writing down the skincare products you’re currently using and which, if any, you’re reacting to positively or negatively. Then, note down how you’re sleeping, and where you are in your menstrual cycle. Lastly, take a closer look at internal factors such as diet, stress, and your general health, including how your immune system is responding. Over the course of at least a month, track how your skin responds to each of these different factors, then work backwards to see what your skin reacts poorly to - and what it needs more of.
