1. What makes Avocado such a powerful ingredient?

The avocado is among the most nutrient dense of all fruits and its superfood qualities also make it a superior skin food. Naturally high in vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids, avocados are antioxidant rich and support natural skin health. It's also high in vitamins A, D and E, which help to moisturise the skin and protect it from damaging UV rays.

Avocado is the perfect base for a skincare range due to its vitamin & mineral profile and its ability to act as a carrier of other actives and antioxidants deep into the dermis. Naturally containing 11 vitamins & 14 minerals, avocado is a complete skinfood that promotes overall skin health and vitality. Avocado’s high levels of oleic acid helps stimulate protein chains that promote collagen production & strengthen the skin barrier. As a pure oil it is deeply nourishing & balancing. It also promotes generation of new connective tissues, helps reduce inflammation, making it suitable for all skin types and profiles.

2. What are the benefits of active botanicals in skincare?

Active botanicals are the ingredients in a product used to target particular issues or concerns. Most skincare products will have ’active ingredients" and Tropicology chooses to utilise natural botanicals in this way. We have omitted parabens and sulphates and included more of the ingredients that will make a real difference to your skin, with proven results. It's better for the planet and your skin.

3. What botanicals/ingredients should I be looking to include in my routine?

Deeply nourishing and healing avocado oil is suitable for all skin types. Containing 11 vitamins and 14 minerals, these powerful ingredients help strengthen the skin barrier and stimulate natural collagen production.

We also love botanicals and ingredients that multitask like the stunning Wild Plum Harvest, found in our Avocado Face Wash & Face Moisturiser. This blend of the indigenous Illawarra, Burdekin & Kakadu Plums give the skin a rich boost in Vitamin C and stimulate hyaluronic acid synthesis, resulting in deep hydration and a more even and brighter complexion.

Aloe vera is another hardworking ingredient that is featured in many of our products. A wonderful hydrator, aloe vera is absorbed up to four times faster than water alone and the leaves also contain a unique blend of plant compounds including folic acid, and polysaccharides to help moisturise skin and fight free radicals.

4. Why are ethical and sustainable practices a priority for Tropicology and Tropical Fruit World?

We are committed to farming and producing products in a way that can be done using the same practices for generations to come. Ethicality and sustainability is something that encompasses our entire business, with complete transparency across production, business practices and throughout our supply chain. We are also proudly certified COSMOS Organic, a standard which covers all aspects of the developmental stage right through to the manufacturing, marketing, packaging and certification of the product.

5. What steps is Tropicology taking to limit their environmental footprint?

Practices:
We support bio-sustainable and organic farming practices that have the least amount of impact on the environment and utilise solar in our warehouse, which happens to be built from recycled lettuce farm cool rooms.

Materials:
We produce packaging that encourages reuse and repurposing where possible.
Our tubes are not only produced using green energy, but are made from plastics which contain PE produced from Australian sourced sugarcane waste. Our bottles are architecturally designed vessels made from up-cycled glass, and even our labelling and boxes are made from recycled stock substrates and our shipping bags are made from plant based compostable materials.

6. How should consumers dispose of their Tropicology products after they’ve been used?

All of our product tubes are able to be recycled in council recycling bins across Australia and our glass bottles are designed to be refilled, reused or recycled.

7. What sets Tropicology apart from other natural beauty brands?

It is our intimate understanding of our hero ingredient, avocado, that has allowed us to realise the immense benefits avocado oil gives to the skin through our range. With 30 years experience in the development of skincare, we pride ourselves on being pioneers in the natural skincare movement and our ingredient selection is based on over fifty years of observations of the botanicals we grow on our family farm and their benefits.
