Clay is a really common ingredient in natural skin care, especially facial masks, but by now you have probably noticed that there are a few different types of clays which work differently for each skin type. I've covered the benefits of Pink Clay for sensitive skin, but White Clay is actually different, working for all skin concerns which means you can reap the benefits no matter your age or skin type.

What is White Clay?

Also known as Kaolin Clay, White Clay is a very fine, soft and light powder with naturally absorbent properties. Gentle and smooth on skin, White Clay is a great option for almost all skin types, working really well for normal skin types (skin that is neither oily nor dry), as well as mature skin. White Clay works as a very mild exfoliant, gently removing dead and dry skin cells to leave you with clarified, glowing skin as well as reducing the size of your pores, which makes White Clay face masks the perfect pre-makeup masks, your foundation will just glide on! It also works to very gently draw out dirt, oil and grime from deep within the pores.

The Life Basics Pure White Clay Facial Mask is a favourite of mine as it really works to gently cleanse and detoxify the skin, brightening the complexion and leaving your skin looking and feeling incredibly smooth. Harnessing the cleansing properties of Australian White Clay, this purifying and brightening mask is ideal for all skin types, working to draw out impurities and absorb excess oil without stripping the skin of its natural moisture. Vegan, Australian made and Gluten Free, it can be mixed with water to form a paste, applied to the face, then left on for 10 to 15 minutes.

Pollen Botanicals The Youth Lift
The Pollen Botanicals The Youth Lift is actually a combination of two products, the second of which harnesses the power of White Clay. This two-step skin care system starts with a serum containing Hyaluronic Acid to pump up the skin with moisture, followed by a mask which uses White Clay, Organic Seaweed, Marshmallow, Licorice and Bentonite Clay. This serum may help to reduce inflammation, soothe, calm and detoxify and with natural active ingredients that work to stimulate and tighten the skin, this skin care system is ideal for those aged 40 or older with normal skin types. It may not be suitable for particularly sensitive or reactive skin. Use once a week for best results.
