Anna Kendrick's natural makeup look was created by celebrity makeup artist Vanessa Scali, who has actually worked with other celebrities like America Ferrera, Christina Hendricks and Elizabeth Reaser. The theme was 'pretty in pink', to match Anna's pale pink dress with crystal embroidery, and Vanessa said the look was also inspired by icons like Jane Birkin and Sharon Tate, with flirty lashes and fresh, glowing skin.
Here is exactly how Vanessa created Anna Kendrick's makeup look, including the exact shades!
Step 1 ’ Foundation
According to Vanessa, the key to Anna's dewy makeup was in "the balance of textures: sheer layering of creamy formulas, well placed shimmer, and clean shine control where needed." After Anna's skin care routine, she used the 100% Pure Mattifying Primer all over the T-zone area to help keep makeup in place all night.
Then, for a flawless, satin finish with a dewy glow, Vanessa used the new 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Full Coverage Water Foundation in Neutral 1.0. This hydrating formula helped to keep Anna's skin soft, smooth and moisturised all night, but also worked to control oil and shine. Vanessa used a damp makeup blender to apply this foundation for a seamless finish. To top off the foundation portion of the makeup, Vanessa used the 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Long Lasting Concealer in Alpine Rose under the eyes and in the inner corners to brighten the eye area.
Step 2 ’Blush, Highlighter & Bronzer
For a gorgeous rosy glow, Vanessa then used the 100% Pure Lip & Cheek Tint in Peach, applying it lightly with fingers and blending for a creamy finish and natural looking flush. Then, using the tip of her ring finger (for warmth and a seamless application), Vanessa applied the 100% Pure Luminous Creme in Starlight for a glowing highlight, applying it to the high points of the face ’ cheekbones, brow bones, nose and cupids bow.
For bronzer, the 100% Pure Bronzer in Cocoa Gem added a light dusting of milk chocolate warmth to Anna's porcelain skin. Vanessa applied this lightly shimmering bronzer to the temples, hairline, under the jaw and below the cheekbones to add dimension.
Step 3 ’ Brows
Vanessa wanted to keep Anna's brows looking soft and subtle, so she used the 100% Pure Long Last Brows pomade to slightly elongate the ends, then finished with the 100% Pure Green Tea Fibre Brow Builder to thicken and tint them.
Step 4 ’ Eyeshadow
According to Vanessa, Anna Kendrick’s Grammys eye makeup was designed to match her pink dress as well as complement her porcelain skin tone and dark blue eyes. Step 6 ’ Lips
The last step in Anna Kendrick's Grammys makeup was of course lipstick!
